Reichwage Winery aims to grow, produce, and bottle our own wines from our two estate vineyards in Western Sonoma County, Twin Hills and Mancini Ranch. The winery was founded in 2014 to fulfill a dream of producing classically made Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.
Generally, we sell about half of our grapes to amicable winemakers in order help cover some of the farming costs. Production is microscopic, about 1200 cases per year. In August of 2019 we completed construction of our winery, just in time for harvest the following month!
Max Reichwage oversees a total of 24 acres of vines at Twin Hills Vineyard and Mancini Ranch. His education took him from the Chemistry labs of the University of Michigan to graduate work at the University of California Davis studying Viticulture and Enology.
A childhood surrounded by fermentations and processing equipment undoubtedly left an indelible mark. Before starting the winery in 2014, Max gained experience working in Napa, Emilia-Romagna, Sonoma, Tasmania, and Burgundy.
Max’s research on extraction in red wine fermentations was published in the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture in 2015 & 2017.
