Klamath Ferry – Pier 9
Available only with purchase of VIP Package

SOLD OUT!

5:30 – 9:30pm

A unique piece of Embarcadero history, and the location of our Evening with the Winemakers and Auction, the newly renovated Klamath Ferry is one of only a few surviving grand vessels that served as the main form of transportation in the Bay Area in the first half of the 20th Century- before the Bay Bridge, BART, and freeways.

Times and technology change and the Klamath was retired from service in the 1950s after the completion of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.

After an elegant facelift, costing millions of dollars, the Klamath began her second career as the corporate headquarters of the branding pioneer Landor Associates. Spanning the years  from 1964-1987, the Klamath rapidly became a key destination for visiting celebrities, dignitaries and Landor clients. Author Tom Wolfe once called the Klamath ‘the flagship of design’. Famous for its parties, the Klamath attracted the likes of Marshall McLuhan, George C Scott, Andy Warhol and the Grateful Dead during its heyday.

This year, as a ZinEX VIP, you will join the elite and party on the historic Klamath Ferry, permanently moored on Pier 9 with fellow Zin Lovers and ZAP.

Your semi-formal** Evening with the Winemakers begins with our winemakers in the lounge as they “pour it big” from magnums of their favorite vintages during the extended reception cum dinner.  Dining on extravagant small plates at our Chef’s tasting stations, this is your chance to create your own perfect Zinfandel and food pairings- with a little help from our winemakers!

Save room for the second act of the evening: dessert and gourmet cheeses in the Ballroom! There, you will sit at bedecked tables with your selected winemaker for an elegant dessert course followed with a curated cheese plate and and no-holds-barred auction emceed by Dawn Marie Kotsonis. Always a big evening of fun, competition for amazing packages accompanied by great wine!

*A few a la carte tickets may be available to our VIP guests to invite friends or family to accompany you. Please call the ZAP office at 530.274.4900.

Pier 9 is a 10-15 minutes walk from 1 Hotel San Francisco.  Shuttles will be provided for the evening from our host hotel.

The Klamath is permanently moored, and will NOT be sailing.

**A semi-formal dress code calls for suits for men, ascots optional. Cocktail dresses for ladies.

A note about ZAP’s auction:

ZAP’s auctions are comprised of donated experiences and wines designed and contributed by our winemakers and winery owners who enthusiastically create unforgettable encounters, share their passion, stories, wine and occasionally even their homes with ZinEX participants in mind!!

The proceeds realized from our annual auction provides a large part of the fund supporting the programming so vital to ZAP’s mission to advance knowledge and appreciation for American Zinfandel and its unique place in our culture and history. These programs include Zinfandel preservation, research, education and advocacy.
